MUSIC DEPARTMENT RULES FOR PRACTICE USE FALL 2021/SPRING 2022:
All students currently taking lessons and/or participating in ensembles have access to the practice rooms in Jewett Arts Center on asign-up basis only. Due to the high demand, we encourage students who can practice in their dorm rooms to continue doing so. If you do decide to sign up for practice room use in Jewett, please see the policies below.
- Students must sign up for a practice room on the Music Department website prior to entering a room.
- Practice rooms are available to all music students.
- Wind, brass, and vocal students have been given designated practice spaces (Rooms 102a, 102b, and 104).
- In order to allow for proper ventilation between practice sessions, each session for students who are not in the winds/brass/vocal category is 60 minutes long and consists of 45 minutes of practice time, followed by 15 minutes of air-out time.
- 每个会话的风/铜/ vocal students in Rooms 102a, 102b, and 104 is 90 minutes long, and consists of 60 minutes of practice time, followed by 30 minutes of air-out time.
- Students and faculty must wash hands thoroughly before and after practice.
- Students and faculty are required to wear face masks at all times while practicing, with the exception of winds/brass players and singers.
- Students and faculty must wipe down surfaces, and vacate the area, leaving the practice room door wide open during air-out time.
- Students and faculty are not permitted to congregate in hallways.
- No food or drink is to be consumed in practice rooms.
