Science Center Construction Update - Week of 11/22/21

We are excited about the continued progress on the new science building, and want to remind everyone to exercise extreme caution when walking around the construction site. Please stay on paved paths, stay alert and off your cell phone, and please stay outside of the construction gates and give construction vehicles lots of room to maneuver. Site fencing may be moved as we complete sitework and landscaping. Please be aware that this is still a construction zone. The new building will open for spring classes in January 2022!

Site Perimeter– Deliveries will continue to the north and east entry during the course of the day. A Lull will be driving on the road around the site.
Christmas Tree Alley– No major impacts

Inside the Buildings:
L-Wing -Minor tasks at the bridge connections and E-Wing will take place periodically. All work will take place before 8:30 am or on the weekend.
Focus –Ongoing construction activities including electrical, temporary cladding, flooring, etc.
A, B C & D Wings– Finishing work is ongoing which includes painting, A/V, final cleaning and punch list. Moving of furniture for the classrooms and offices will commence.
Hub –Installation of wood cladding will continue along with fabric panels, floor polishing, final cleaning and punch list.

Outside the Buildings:
A & B Wing (Area A & B) -Grading, sidewalk preparation, and installation of top soil will be completed on the west side in the next couple of weeks.
B & C Wing (Area C) -Vehicular traffic is being routed through the site and pedestrians are using thenewly created path around the back side of Whitin House. Landscaping soil installation will be finishing up along with final paving.
C & D Wing (Area E) –Grading and installation of top soil will continue. Sidewalks will be placed on the east side of the site and around the Visitor Center. Finish paving will also be installed in front of the visitor center.
T&R Greenhouse (Area E) -Testing and installation of tables will continue along with punch list for the space.
